The Building Process
It’s a very exciting time when customers want to have new space in their home, by way of an extension or loft conversion. You may have plans to build a new home. But we understand that there are moments in a build that can be stressful. This is why we strongly believe in good communication as everyone involved in the project share the common goal of a finished build to the high standard expected of our building projects

Initial idea
Sometimes people will come to us direct with a rough idea of what they would like. Others will have fully drawn architectural plans. Either way, we are happy to meet with you or your architect to help realise the idea from concept through to finished build.
Getting the ball rolling
For some building work, drawings may not be necessary. However, for a larger projects it can be a very beneficial process as you will get a better idea of what you want the end result to look like. This can save you money in the long run. We can help you through the planning process so that, before anything starts, everyone has a clear idea of what you want and the time scales for the work to be carried out. With a Construction by Hand build, you would get a schedule of works so you know what will happen and when. It also helps us identify any potential problems early and so work with you to rectify them.

During the build
With a Construction by Hand project, we can act as your project manager, bringing together the best in craftsmen and tradesman to work on your project with regular updates on progress.

We understand that it can be stressful to have builder in your home. We try to minimise that at all times. By having a schedule of works, you will know if, or when, it is likely to get dusty or noisy and plan accordingly. Whether it is necessary to screen off a few rooms to minimise dust or use it as a perfect excuse to go away for a short break.

Our objective is also to complete your building project as soon as possible to the high standard expected of a Construction by Hand build.
Tender Process
A Construction by Hand build has considerable experience in working on architect administered projects. We are approached by architects who will put together a tender package. We use quantity surveyors to give an accurate assessment as to what is needed to complete the building project. Typically this may also include an agreement using a JCT contract.
